Chandra Ianetta

Title: Director of Competitive Teams, Optional Coach

Chandra is originally from Pennsylvania where she trained and competed through level 9, deciding to pursue her Track and Field career when injury plagued her gymnastics. She began coaching level 5 at Wilson Gymnastics in her hometown of Chambersburg in the summer of 1995 after graduating HS. It was apparent immediately that this was the path she wanted to follow and her passion for coaching was realized. Attending every clinic she could find, multiple congresses and training in Elite gyms in the Philadelphia area, her dream of coaching high level gymnastics was born and molded.  Over the next five years, she developed the Optional program through level 10 and became head coach as well as gym office manager. In the summer of 2000, she moved to Virginia Beach. There she worked briefly at Ocean Tumblers NTC before following elite coach Tony Hampton to open Hurricane Gymnastics where she was the assistant Girls Team Director coaching all events level 7-10. Her path coaching Elite gymnastics began and it was there that many of the fundamentals for this path of training began. Ultimately she chose to balance life as a single mom and stay within the time limits and commitments of the J.O. level 7-10 program. In the summer of 2004 she accepted a position as Girl’s Team Director and Optional Team Head coach at a gym in South Atlanta where she coached level 7-10 on all events solely while rebuilding a struggling Optional Program. In 2008 she joined Atlanta North Stars. After just one season, she moved to Baltimore, got married and had two more children. Taking a few years off to be home for the boys, the itch to be in the gym and mold gymnasts wouldn’t go away. In 2013 she and her family moved to Illinois for her husband’s job and she joined the Optional coaching staff of longtime friend and owner of Rising Star’s Academy. Moving back to Atlanta in 2014 she came back to Atlanta North Stars. Chandra has been choreographing Floor and Beam routines for 25 years for her athletes and other gyms as well. She has coached numerous state, regional and national champions and sent several athletes to college. She is an all 4 event coach and loves training every athlete to their fullest potential with an emphasis not only on quality high level gymnastics but also teaching independence and building character. Chandra believes in creating a caring environment full of discipline, as well as nurturing these young ladies in not just gymnastics but teaching life lessons as well. She has always created a special bond with every girl she coaches and continues in the lives of many former athletes she has coached over the last 22 years.
